How does a woman’s touch change a man’s public image? Ask Ella Chen. She made surly Jerry SMILE, and act like a six year old. Before down with love, I pretty much thought Jerry Yan was just another pretty face. Intensely private and really not on my radar of actors. After this slightly too sweet drama I began to develop feelings for the overgrown man-boy. But I digress.
This drama is like a hooker with a heart of gold. At times the acting is fake and overdone, but at the heart it’s vulnerable and warm. The kids helped, and there’s undeniable chemistry between the leads. Not to mention the second male lead looks like Adonis… if he ever shaved the little garden he grew on his chin. Still, off the radar hot.
Here’s Episodes 1 (I hate the first episodes, they are so introductory and BORING. It’s like meeting new people and having to be nice, and once you decide they’re actually worth it, the mask comes off)
Ella’s character Yang Guo is a hard working girl who basically has the strength of ten men. She is not the sharpest tool in the shed, but she’s loyal and she’s sweet.
Her sister Yang Duo, is the exact opposite. She’s smart and sassy. The downside is that she is pretty much obsessed with making money. She also works for Jerry’s character, Xiang Yu Ping, one of the best divorce lawyers in the biz.
Yang Guo (Ella) tries to make her sister happy by taking odd jobs and trying to make as money as possible. She lugs refrigerators, does construction work, and even goes and tries to be a waitress, with disastrous effects. At the beginning of the episode, we find taht her boyfriend of three years has cheated on her with a hotter, richer and apparently, less loyal girl. Yang Guo is devastated.
Jerry on the other hand, is cool and collected. He pretty much hates women for being deceitful and calculating. Our hero meet Yang Guo, not knowing that she’s his secretary’s sister, as Yang Guo waitresses at a resteruant. She pisses him off for being slow and messing up his order… we can forgive her because we know her BF had just broken up with her. We also get to meet the second male lead, who is an architect and so hot he’s like a tamale. Yang Guo’s best friend also works there and is bothered by an ardent admirer. To get ride of him, Yang Guo’s best friend grabs yang guo and declares that they are in love and kisses her. Hence the mistake of Jerry thinking Yang Guo is a lesbian.
To make matters worse, Yang Guo nearly runs into Jerry (xiang yu ping)’s car chasing the magic marble her father gave her before he disappeared, leaving the sisters with a mountain of debt. Yang Guo and Yu Ping (jerry) fight, and she calls him a hearltess, cold bastard. Yu Ping goes home and gets hit on by the nanny of his nephew and niece. We learn that the kids live with him after his brother had died, and they are a handful. It’s pretty hilarious that the nannies either fall deeply in love with Yu Ping or are tortured to insanity by the little devils.
Yu Ping desperately searches for nanny made of steel, to resist his sexiness and survive his murderous little children. When he says that he’ll pay for whatever the nanny is asking to Yang Duo, she lights up and offers her sister for the lion’s den. They meet and Yu Ping recognizes Yang Guo, and after hilariously getting rid of the misunderstanding she gets hired for the impossible task.
